Choosing the right size for my glasses

Understanding Eyewear Sizes: What You Need to Know

When choosing a pair of glasses, it's not enough to simply opt for a trendy model: frame size is an essential criterion for ensuring comfort, stability, and visual efficiency. Yet, the numbers engraved inside the temples often remain a mystery to many wearers. Here's a simple guide to understanding what these sizes mean in eyewear.

1. Where can I find the glasses sizes?

Glasses size is usually written on the inside of the left temple or behind the bridge (at nose level). It appears as a series of numbers, such as: 52□18 140

These numbers correspond to the main dimensions of the frame, expressed in millimeters (mm).

In the picture below the size is 52-18-140.

2. Deciphering the Three Key Measures

>Width of the glasses (e.g. 52 mm)

This is the width of a single lens, measured horizontally, excluding the surrounding frame. A typical width ranges from 48 to 58 mm, depending on the style and shape.

>Bridge width (e.g. 18 mm)

The bridge is the part that rests on the nose, between the two lenses. A narrow bridge (14-16 mm) will suit a narrow nose, while a wider bridge (18-22 mm) will suit wider noses.

>Length of branches (e.g. 140 mm)

This is the length of the temples from the edge of the frame to the tip that rests behind the ear. The most common lengths are 135 mm, 140 mm and 145 mm.

3. Why is size so important?

A poorly adjusted frame can cause several problems:

* Frequent sliding on the nose
* Pain behind the ears
* Incorrect positioning of corrective lenses
* Unharmonious aesthetics

A well-fitting frame should be centered, comfortable, and fit snugly without exerting excessive pressure.

4. How to choose the right size?

>Do you already wear glasses?

Take the measurements of your old frame if it fits you well.

Measure the width between the two hinges. Allow for a tolerance of +/-4mm.

The size correspondence table is as follows:

Hinge to hinge = width between the two hinges (seen above).

5-Conclusion
